The Green Salvadorian Thumb: Week 1

I began planting my vegetable garden on Tuesday May 5th. I bought a big bag of Pine Bark Mini Nuggets Mulch by Garick and a small bag of Vigoro Fertilizer. The soil, i'm resusing from what was left from last year's garden. I emptied out all the buckets. I first layed down some mulch in each and cover that with some soil, half way of the bucket. I then took the fertilizer and mixed it with the soil that was left over(make sure you read the fertilizer instructions bc you dont want to over fertilize and kill the plant). I placed the vegetable plants in the buckets and began filling the rest of it with the soil mixed with fertilizer until it left me about 2 to 4 inches to the top of the bucket. I covered the soil with about 2 inches of the mulch so it can keep the moisture and hot tempature in the buckets.
With the turvys, i placed the tomatoes in first. layed down about an inch of mulch. Then filled the turvy with soil until it was 3/4 full. the first 1/4 was the soil mixed with fertilizer and the other 1/2 was regular soil. I then placed the herbs in and filled the rest with the soil mixed with fertilizer and cover it with about 2 inches of mulch.
